About The W.K.A Semi Contact & Forms Division.

There are over 80 countries within membership of the World Karate Association and its sister body
the World Kickboxing Association.

The W.K.A has a very active role both in the UK and overseas in the sanctioning, and staging of tournaments and competitions. Almost every week of every month of the year there is somewhere in the world a major promotion being held under the auspices of the W.K.A.

Within the Semi Contact &Forms calendar each year sees the staging of a World Championships.

Each member country of the W.K.A holds their own National Open tournament and from this a team is selected to represent that country at the world championships. Every year the tournament grows bigger and bigger.

The tremendous growth the W.K.A Semi Contact&Forms Division has seen in just a few short years is reflective upon the constant hard work by each of our member presidents. Plus the advantage of having a full time dedicated office here in the UK.

Under our World Directors constant endeavours from the WKA's central HQ in Birmingham England, the W.K.A has expanded to every corner of the world. Its success and rapid growth rate on a global scale can be put down to everyone within the W.K.A working together without politics or favour to one aim, that of the promotion of the martial arts for arts sake.

If you live outside of the UK and would like to get involved organising and running a W.K.A discipline in your own country then we would like to hear from you. The criteria required for such an endeavour is quite simple. You must be at least a 3rd Dan or Degree in a martial arts system. Operate an organisation within your own country of at least200 members. And be prepared to send a national Team to a W.K.A World Championships each year. If you think you fit these criteria then we would be pleased to hear from you!

Send your request by e-mail to: Peter Lewis

And please put down something about yourself and your operation and why you feel you would like to run the W.K.A in your own country. If a representative is already operating from your country we would put you in touch with them and perhaps you could take over one of the W.K.A divisions on their behalf. If you do not have e-mail facilities then please phone on:

We want to hear from you!

The Weight Divisions:

The weight divisions in the semi contact/ points fighting within the W.K.A. are universal.
Each year at a World Congress the presidents of the W.K.A. Semi Contact & Forms division
discuss the various changes in both weights and rules. These are then voted upon and
implemented at the following year's world championships. This constant revising keeps
the W.K.A. at the forefront of world martial arts and also because of its democratic methods of voting
ensure that the most important people within the W.K.A. the Fighters! Get a fair deal all of the time.
