The WKA runs many martial arts disciplines at amateur as well as
professional level. A more recent development has seen the rise of light contact karate or
kickboxing, known also as light continuous.
Late July of 1998 saw the first ever WKA World Championships. in this discipline in Copenhagen Denmark. This inaugural event hosted by the World WKA Vice president Mr Flemming Schroter proved to be a tremendous success. Many WKA Nations from around the world supported the event. Once again, as with the Semi contact & forms, the WKA included children's categories in the light contact. Although still in it's infancy the WKA's light contact division with support from fellow presidents world-wide looks as though it is heading for equal accolade in the same vein as it's sister disciplines. The future looks very bright indeed. |

The Rules for Light Contact are constantly under revision to ensure the fighters maximum safety.

WE WANT YOU !! To Be Our Representative In Your Country. The W.K.A (World Karate Association)The worlds oldest and most respected organisation for the promotion of competition and tournament karate (Semi contact/Points/Kata) is looking for Club or Association Martial Arts instructors in all parts of the World to become a representative of the World Karate Association (WKA). Your position in the World body would be PRESIDENT for the WKA in your country. Each year the WKA holds World Championships in a different country each time. You would be expected to put a National Team together with at least ten members and travel to these Championships representing your Nation. Already many countries in the World are representing the WKA but we are looking for more! If you think you are an organiser, and you have the necessary skills to make a success out of what you do then please call us. Semi contact or points karate is the fastest growing competition system in the world. Once you become a member of the WKA you will have the full backing to world level from our office here in the UK.
